Ask Not! JFK’s Legacy Denied. Ask Why Not! JFK’S Legacy Defended.
In his inaugural address on January 20, 1961, President John F. Kennedy famously said, "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country." Today, the tea party faithful and a group of conservative elected officials just say, Ask not! Ask not what can be done for or by the government. Congress at the Crossroads
Congress is being held in contempt. That contempt comes from the American people. A poll released last week by Public Policy Polling (PPP) reveals that contempt is deep and broad. Congress got only a 9 percent favorability rating in the PPP study. That's the good news for the institution. That was a good thing. In the early 21st century, we have a different form of trust-busting going on -- inept, illegal and amoral acts engaged in by some businesses, politicians and individuals that are destroying the bonds of confidence and faith in each other that bind the nation together. That is a bad thing. A … [Read more...]
Time to Work the Pivot Points
2012 is a pivotal time for the United States. The decisions we make and the actions we take in this election year and in the remainder of this decade will determine the future of America and the American dream. Some might want to call this a tipping point, a turning point or a talking point. We strongly prefer the term "pivot point." Let us explain why. In science, a tipping point is the "point in which a system is displaced from a state of stable equilibrium into a different state." A … [Read more...]
