Describing Aligarh Muslim University as true treasure, Indian-American philanthropist Frank Islam said that the varsity has shaped his history and determined his destiny.
“Aligarh shaped my history and my journey and determined my destiny. Aligarh remains an inseparable part of my life and my story and my journey,” Azamgarh-born Islam said during the second American Bazaar Philanthropy Dialogue Saturday night here.
“Its principles have always guided me during the time of calm or crisis. It is true treasure. It is precious possession. Aligarh has always been a beacon of hope and aspirations and dream,” he said in response to a question during the conversation.
Islam was part of the delegation accompanying US President Barack Obama to India in January this year.
During the visit, Islam he donated USD two million to support the building of the Frank and Debbie Islam School of Management at Aligarh Muslim University.
